A total of 110 LIVIS users manage our varied tasks in regional business for farmers, developers, and communes. We primarily focus on purchasing land for a wide range of tasks for our clients as well as developing land for construction projects. Our communes in Lower Saxony form the largest client group for these areas of responsibility.
When it comes to our own land holdings, the traditional leasing business continues to dominate, which we manage with com.LIVIS.
Against the background of our tasks, it becomes clear why we’ve pushed ahead with standardizations in all organizational units in 2021 by introducing the new com.LIVIS. Only this way can we further expand digitization in our business areas. We prepared the implementation with two focal points: Linking the interface with our SAP accounting system and replacing Excel-based calculations with the integration of our data into com.LIVIS.
In the context of connecting the interface, it was important to us that we would be able to pair the data transfer from our previous system com.LIVIS to SAP to the work process. We managed to achieve this thanks to the support of Com In, who helped us implement an action-based interface. With this solution, we were able to determine whether a data transfer would take place directly through data entry or depended on an internal decision within the workflow. When we complete the interface connection in 2023, we’ll be able to reduce the previously required data reconciliation to a minimum and implement our clients’ evaluation requirements more quickly.
Our calculations can be components of different procedures in land management. We used calculation logic and our experience from the “age of Excel” and transferred these to com.LIVIS, which works with databases, with the help of Com In. The implementation in com.LIVIS allows us to take advantage of the benefits of a database – standardization, data check, transparency. It helps prevent duplicate entries and lets us document the intermediate results of a calculation. Put simply: We’ve transferred our “old knowledge” to the digital world and made it competitive!
What would we do differently with the knowledge we have today? When you look at the details, of course you’re always smarter in hindsight. But we know we made the right decision by turning to a service provider to support us with the project management and provide process consulting. We wouldn’t have been able to do this on our own alongside our everyday business. Looking back, it was good for us that Com In could take over these tasks while also introducing the technical software.
